Description: RxNorm provides normalized names for clinical drugs and links those names to many of the drug vocabularies commonly used in pharmacy management and drug interaction software, including First Databank, Micromedex, Multum, and Gold Standard Drug Database. The resource serves as a terminology built on and derived from other terminologies such as ATC. RxNorm reflects and preserves the meanings, drug names, attributes, and relationships from the sources it draws from. By providing links between these vocabularies, RxNorm can mediate messages between systems not using the same software and vocabulary.
