Community District Tabulation Areas
After the release of 2020 decennial census the New York City Department of City Planning will begin to publish the new statistical geography Community District Tabulation Areas (CDTA). These statistical geographies will be a unique feature of New York City, do not expect to find them elsewhere.
Community District Tabulation Areas will be composed of 2020 census tracts and will loosely align with community districts. The New York City Department of City Planning has worked with the US Census Bureau to split census tracts at community district boundaries, and as a result can assemble collections of census tracts into Community District Tabulation Areas that approximate community districts.
Community District Tabulation Areas will have codes that look like "MN01" where the first two letters indicate the borough and the final 2 digits indicate the community district.
Territory in New York City that is not covered by a Community District Tabulation Area will be covered by a joint interest area
