Ranger Tutorials
Rangers are a very straight forward guild, they train like all the other magic guilds, but climb the ladder fast like a Barb.
I simply train all skills I can in combat, and I train all weapons. We are Barb Lites, we need to train all weapons, and with our skillsets... why wouldn't you!
Train all the weapons!
use_weak_attacks: false # True here will just jab quickly, use this lower level and only if your weapons have puncture!
weapon_training:
Small Edged: katar
Bow: nisha shortbow
Brawling: ''
Light Thrown: bola
Twohanded Edged: broadaxe
Crossbow: forester stonebow
Slings: sling
Heavy Thrown: light spear
Polearms: light spear
Large Edged: broadaxe
Small Blunt: bola
Large Blunt: star
Staves: nightstick
Twohanded Blunt: mattock
Offhand Weapon: nightstick
Rangers can dual load, meet requirements and use the setting:
dual_load: true
Train offhand weapon with aiming_trainables, this enables you to use single handed template weapons (non swappable), and attack with the left hand while aiming. This really speeds up training!

Some people clown suit, some don't. Clown suiting will slow your climb, but most don't care about this. I personally do, so I cycle armors. Make sure the gear is listed properly and use the type settings below. Gloves are recommended until you can hold the weight of leg armor, and then swap that. If you choose to clown suit, do not swap.

Brigandine:
- scale gloves
Plate Armor:
- plate gauntlet
Chain Armor:
- ring gloves
Light Armor:
- embroidered gloves
While scouting is the guild skill, doesn't require anything fancy and trains best simply with Hunt in combat-trainer. Training this by running trails is very time consuming and simply not recommended. The below has worked for me since circle 0 through HLC. Very simple and clean.
training_abilities:
Hunt: 30
These are easily trainable through Burgle. Burgle can practically, or will, lock these skills in less than a minute. This is handled within dr-scripts with the burgle script, the settings are easy and you trigger it two ways:
Putting any of these within the crossing_training section will trigger Burgle if settings exist in the setup yaml. Make sure to put them at the top of the list, as the priority of the list is top to bottom, and we are survival primes.
crossing_training:
- Locksmithing
- Stealth
- Thievery
- Athletics
For T2, list this within every single subsection.
- skill: Athletics
start: 12
scripts:
- burgle start
- athletics
These are the setup yaml settings required. Burgle supports athletics training instead of locksmithing if you list settings appropriately. Check this out for a more details explanation.

use_lockpick_ring: true
loot: pawn
max_search_count: 2
item_whitelist: # Will not drop or pawn these items, check out what they do on Elanthipeda
- memory orb
- keepsake box
Sometimes Burgle will not fully train, or drains too fast, etc.
You can use combat-trainer skills to keep Stealth locked. I recommend just setting the trainer to hide for ranged attacks, this should be enough to keep you topped off. Keep these settings to make it happen.
dont_stalk: true
stealth_attack_aimed_action: snipe # OR poach if you don't have snipe yet!
use_stealth_ranged: true
Alternatively, you can just hide on a cooldown:
training_abilities:
Stealth: 30 # Hides every 30s, will stop hiding at mind lock.
Use the locksmithing script. It will attempt to use whatever trainables, like the keepsakes above, and then pop boxes until locked.
The above settings will continue to attempt to mindlock Locksmithing using the other scripts if the settings exist and the skill after burgle failed to do so.

# consumable boxes will be pulled from your burgle loot_container and should be kept separate from live boxes.
# list as many as you want - though it will try from the top down.
consumable_lockboxes:
- keepsake box
#- liquor cabinet
Simply train this with the athletics script.
crossing_training:
- Athletics
- skill: Athletics
start: 12
scripts:
- burgle start
- athletics
You can make Athletics train higher once you get to larger ranks by holding items, Athletics.lic handles this with:
held_athletics_items:
- bolts
- arrows
There are a couple ways to train this, but the straightforward ways are during combat-trainer and athletics.
training_abilities:
Hunt: 30
Collect: 240
Eventually this gets to a point where you will train during wait timers for the high-level training areas. Simple add these to your list and you will pick a random room to collect in, it can be as few or many as desired.

I recommend to train as much magic during combat as you can, the system will weave it into the rest of combat training skills. This utilizes our uptime. You will need two setttings for this, one trains offensive magic, and the other trains the others.
The system will discern and attempt to cast the spells at a set % which needs to be raised as you gain more ranks.

I personally suggest multistrike spells to get the most bang for your buck, Stampede is a good example, unless the thing you're hunting needs something else based on defense (this isn't common!). I also suggest Debils which don't hard CC your enemy, this keeps defenses moving (though this is less important).

- name: Swarm

I don't suggest using mandatory hunting buffs for this step, you can inadvertantly nerf yourself by casting your spells under the 20% mark and for shorter durations. Use generic spells not required. I like Analogous Magic spells for this.
