Workorders or Craft?

Training any of the crafts can be achieved with lich through workorders.lic or craft.lic. In most cases craft.lic is more time effective but will cost coin where workorders.lic will receive a small payment for turning in completed workorders to the various society masters. Other crafting scripts exist but they are more for making specific items than everyday training.

To train with craft, you can use ;craft in a before/after.

To train with workorders, you need to specify each discipline. Below are the recommended (i.e. easiest and best supported) options. It is also suggested that you do not learn any techniques at early ranks to ensure there are viable workorder recipes to accept. Many items with unwieldy materials are not supported for workorders. For this reason, weaponsmithing, tinkering, and carving in particular are not suggested for training purposes.

Tools

Discipline Book: If you are using craft.lic you only need the appropriate discipline book such as a book of master tailoring instructions or similiar according to your skill, budget, and type of crafting.

Logbook: If you are using workorders you additionally need a logbook such as an engineering work order logbook. There will be one for each skill. Remember to RUB it to make it yours.

Crafting Rooms: If you have all the tools required for your chosen skill, it is highly advisable to set crafting rooms to free up public rooms for those less fortunate and potential avoid those of stick-fingered persuasions. The only two exceptions are forging for obvious reasons and enchanting if you don't have your own brazier. (Getting your own brazier is enormously helpful.) It is also possible to use anchors to make it easy to update all the rooms with one edit.

Do not set your safe_room to somewhere with heavy traffic. It is very bad manners to craft spam a room while people are trying to socialize.

Outfitting: Outfitting is arguably the easiest to train from 0 to around 450 because it can be done with only knitting needles and yarn. After that you will need the optional tools listed in your -setup.yaml that are commented out below.

outfitting_tools:
- knitting needle
#- sewing needle
#- slickstone
#- yardstick
#- scissor
#- stamp

#adding this list to your -setup.yaml file ensures you only accept knitting orders.
workorder_recipes:
  tailoring:
    - a knitted napkin
    - a knitted armband
    - a knitted ankleband
    - some knitted socks
    - some knitted mittens
    - a knitted headband
    - some knitted slippers
    - a knitted scarf
    - a knitted hat
    - some knitted booties
    - a knitted hood
    - a knitted towel
    - some knitted legwarmers
    - some knitted gloves
    - a knitted skirt
    - a knitted shirt
    - a knitted sweater
    - some knitted hose
    - a knitted cloak
    - a knitted blanket

Engineering: Engineering is both practical and well supported. Shaping is the preferred discipline due to tinkering requiring a long list tools or materials and carving requires heavy stones. If you really must use tinkering or carving, visit base.yaml and search for tinkering_tools or carving_tools for the list additional items required.

shaping_tools:
- carving knife
- shaper
- drawknife
- rasp
- clamps

Forging: Forging is by far the most restrictive of all crafts as it is time consuming and limited to locations with forges and/or crucibles. Blacksmithing is the preferred discipline for workorders because of the simplicity of the items. Weaponsmithing requires more parts and large quantities of metal. Armorsmithing is not supported. These tools are also large and heavy.

forging_tools:
- diagonal-peen hammer #many weapons are also hammers so be very specific on the adjective
- tong
- bellow
- shovel

Remedies: Remedies are the blacksheep of the lich crafting family. They are supported but minimally so. Only recipes with ingredients that can be bought will be made. (There are plans to update but it is a complicated project.)

alchemy_tools:
- mortar
- pestle
- bowl
- mixing stick
- sieve

Enchanting: Artificing is the only discipline currently live so it is the only option. Only recipes with ingredients that can be bought will be made. Sigil books or player-supplied base items are not currently an option. Public braziers often have incomplete projects on them and it is highly recommended to get your own enchanted brazier for use in your enchanting_room to avoid hangups and frustration.

enchanting_tools:
- burin
- fey-bone rod #often has very specific adjectives so list carefully
- loop
#- brazier

Toolbelts: Toolbelts are also supported. This setup is in addition to the the lists above. These settings let various scripts know how to find and repair the tools, not actually use them.

    - sieve
enchanting_belt:

  items:
    - burin
    - fey-bone rod
    - loop
    #- brazier

Tool Repair: If you are using workorders, tools will be repaired at the end of every order. If you are using craft, you are responsible for your own repairs. The easiest way to accomplish this is to add them to your gear: list with the rest of your armor and weapons to be repaired by the appropriate leather or metal repairman. If using toolbelts, be sure to list the :tie_to: belt.

Crafting Buffs: To put up buffs before each order, you will need to use waggle sets..

Training Magic While Crafting: Training magics between crafting activities is possible using high prepare amounts. Do not cambrinth: charges because using harnesss or cambrinth will cause interference.
