This page will allow us to keep track of all of our currently-implemented tools and software resources, as well as those that we are currently investigating for potential integration.

Currently In-Use

Any software that is currently in use by our organization, including implementation details, will be outlined here.

Slack

Slack is a communications platform providing the foundation for most of our internal correspondence. Our Slack channel can be located at http://opensourceparty.slack.com.

Loomio

Loomio is a collaborative decision-making and voting platform - We are currently investigating its long-term feasibility as a voting solution, but while this assessment is ongoing, we are using this system for internal dialogue and voting. Our Loomio group can be found at https://www.loomio.org/g/UhC86xms/united-states-open-source-party.

Github

Our Github repository is being used to both host any and all internal software that we implement or develop, as well as our organization's Wiki site. The Github repository is located at https://github.com/opensourceparty.

WordPress

WordPress is an open-source blogging platform built in PHP featuring highly-extendable functionality and a massive support community. It is currently in use for our organization's home page, but its potential to provide additional features and services in the form of plugins or custom development is currently being review. See the section below for additional findings regarding this software platform.

Under Assessment

All software that is being assessed by the internal technology subcommittee is listed below - This section will be updated periodically by the subcommittee to include any and all findings regarding the different software platforms under review and their potential to assist our organization moving forward. Further information on each platform can be found in their individual Wiki pages, which can be reached by clicking the headings below.

A simple online voting system. Maintained by the university of Cornell, this platforms offers a simple voting system using the Schulze Variant of the Condorcet Method (other variations can be used too). This can be useful for those situations where Loomio's Consensus method can be very cumbersome (i.e. when selecting one choice over a selection of candidates)

OpenSTV is desktop software for counting ranked-choice ballots for election methods such as the single transferable vote, instant runoff voting, and Condorcet voting. OpenSTV will run on MS Windows and Mac OS X. There also appears to be a website. Suggested by Krist.
