Welcome to the GeoNetwork opensource project!

GeoNetwork is a catalog application to manage spatially referenced resources. It provides powerful metadata editing and search functions as well as an interactive web map viewer. It is currently used in numerous Spatial Data Infrastructure initiatives across the world.

GeoNetwork is Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) under the umbrella of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo). The project is open to everybody to contribute and collaborate. You can start a discussion, raise an issue or use one of our other communication channels to talk to us.

Project Steering Committee and PSC Meeting Reports

The Project Steering Committee makes decisions on, and manages the GeoNetwork opensource project.

Recent meeting notes can be found here:

Proposals

Proposals offer public review of changes GeoNetwork opensource policy or core codebase. Proposals are developed on the GeoNetwork roadmap project board as a draft item. When approved by the PSC the item is turned into an issue (and a pull request attached when available).

Previous GeoNetwork Change Proposals are recorded on the wiki.

Financial Support

Successful open source development requires a sustainable financial story:

The GeoNetwork project teams asks for your financial support:

  1. Open Source Geospatial Foundation manages financial contributions to the GeoNetwork-opensource project:

  2. Work with a GeoNetwork Service Provider with a demonstrated capacity to contribute to the project.
