What is CityGroups?

CityGroups is a public directory of Community Groups. It is part of the Engagement Toolkit, and provides a way to help community organizers to find each other. Data can be imported and exported, and made available to other services to provide a way to search for groups by topic or location.

The "Block Watch Captain Finder" is a subsite of CityGroups and is considered a "data-collection" project. The idea is that the Block Watch Captain finder looks different but benefits from the same backend and network effects of being listed with other local groups.

• http://bayarea.citygroups.org (we'll try to make a philly & bayarea version - CityGroups is set up to be able to easily create versions for other places.)
