A simple prototype of CityGroups which allowed us to import a database of communities and display it with a web interface.
- Create group
- Search groups
- Bulk add groups
- Export groups
- View groups
We got some initial positive feedback on the application and then proceeded to add some major features.
- Design The design is now similar to the new design for CityHero, another Code for America TeamSeattle/Philadelphia project)
- Subsites/Data Collection Projects ability to create special pages for data collection projects which can look different
- More comprehensive data architecture
- Map features
- display groups on map with service areas
- provide some geocoding information for groups
- improve geofield's map feature drawing tool
- Metrics At a metrics meeting, we determined that the main goals of the site include
- Number of groups (going up)
- People sharing groups (twitter/facebook)
- Positive outcomes in the groups (group attendance going up, or groups working together/combining resources)
- Created Wiki on Github.
- We are now moving all bugs & feature plans to github.
- Development will live at http://dev.citygroups.org
We are working with the following datasets & data collection projects. (Open to more!)

- Views datasource broke with the upgrade, so to export data, that must be done in admin interface.
- Should upgrade to openlayers 7.x.-dev
- It is confusing when user draws shape and doesn't know how to get out of it.
- Anonymous users shouldn't be able to edit their post... (is this an issue?)
- Add image: won't actually show an image, and text is confusing
- Civic Taxonomy import moderated civic taxonomy, with nounproject icons.
- Category suggestion when entering new groups
- Ratings (dead, recommended, comments/reviews)
- Import Taxonomy
- Work with Seattle Area Block Watch Captains on the Block Watch Captain Finder, which is a subsection of City Groups
- Get more user feedback, then do another iteration of the design
- Improve map drawing interface to be completely intuitive
- Site wayfinding Menus, navigation, dashboards & redirecting
- Form instructions improve text and improve the design
- Blockwatch: anonymous tip
- Sign in (via Facebook) vs Anonymous --> Needs some attention
