When merged this pull request will:

  • Add Peltor levels of hearing protection to vanilla headgear with a "headset";
  • Make the "Rangemaster Cap" an active earpro instead of passive muffling, since its model looks very much like a Peltor earmuff with microphones;

European militaries are starting to trend away from bulky Peltor earmuffs and towards more compact "earplug"-style active hearing protection like the INVISIO X7 (which matches the capabilities of Peltors).
Some vanilla headgear like caps, beanies and booniehats have an added "headset" inside both ears + microphone. In the 2030s that kind of configuration would certainly provide active hearing protection.

With EHP this makes most of the headgear in the base game have perfect earpro built-in. Might be realistic for 2035, but it's a bit of a balance change.

FWIW I don't think I've ever seen headset headgear (vanilla or mod derivatives) used in scenarios where it realistically shouldn't provide active earpro.
I guess it does, though stuff like the Invisio X5 has also been on the market since 2015.
