Significant changes:

  • New beatmap file detection system. No longer depends on file extension, instead it reads the beatmap contents directly

    • Although it's not as fast as v1.1.4, but further optimization will be done.
  • Super duper fancy beautiful touch effect

  • New beatmap selection screen.

    • More information is now shown

    • Swipe left/right to change pages

Bug fixes from v1.1.4:

  • Fixed rendering mode (with and without FXAA) when rendering with 16:9 resolution

Known bugs:

  • Blue screen (Lua error) on attempt to swipe left/right if no beatmap is installed

A strong note: This (and future) version of Live Simulator: 2 ships with ANGLE for Windows and FFmpeg for Windows & Android.

ANGLE is licensed under BSD 3-clause license. FFmpeg is licensed under LGPL version 3 (or later version)

P.S.: Android verison is not fully tested and it will overwrite your previous Live Simulator: 2 installation. Make sure you have backup of all your beatmaps and Live Simulator: 2 v1.1.4 before proceed

I'm trying to experiment with openal-soft to achieve low latency audio. It will attempt to use device property sample rate and buffer size. Might not compatible (read: crash) in Android 4.1 or earlier.

Please note that if you install this APK and willing to back to older release, like v1.1.4, it's not possible since it will count as downgrade.

  • Added note sound accumulation feature which can be enabled in settings. Note sound accumulation makes note tap sound less louder on simultaneous note

Note for Windows: Starting from this version, Windows zip of Live Simulator: 2 (zip file below) ships with ANGLE binaries. This means Live Simulator: 2 system requirements decreased from OpenGL 2.1 to Direct3D 9 capable graphics card.

Changes from v1.1.0

Desktop changes:

  • Fixed rendering mode where FXAA doesn't get applied to image sequence

Android changes:

  • Added setting to enable JIT compilation. It's not a good idea to enable JIT in ARM devices because it's slow. Has no effect in desktop environments.

  • Lesser audio delay (decreased the buffer size to 128). Almost comparable to real SIF now.

After this I might start working on fanmade beatmap repository website, so there might be some inactivity in the future.

Note for Android: It uses recompiled LOVE2D with LuaJIT 2.1.0-beta3, so it might be unstable especially under Intel devices.

EDIT: Some people reports that the APK fails to install in Android 7.1. Please try the "testfix" APK instead in this case. "testfix" one is not ZIP aligned and repacked with APKTool 2.2.2
