Thanks for the PR! We previously had the explorers as SnowTrace, but then introduced SnowScan in #1824 as it is built by Etherscan (which is used my most chain definitions in Viem) and is still an official Avalanche explorer. It is still relatively new, which explains why the number of verified contracts per day is lower. |
Hi @jxom , SnowScan is not an official Avalanche explorer, as it is not endorsed by nor featured on the Avalanche website. You should set snowtrace.io, that is the officially supported explorer. Setting Snowscan creates confusion and expectations about off-chain data availability for labels and verified contracts. Happy to discuss this with the Avalanche foundation, that owns the snowtrace.io domain. |
Description
According to the Avalanche documentation, Snowtrace and testnet-snowtrace are the officially recommended block explorers for the Avalanche network. This change ensures that our users are directed to the most reliable and feature-rich explorer available.
Snowtrace has a significantly higher number of verified contracts compared to Snowscan, providing more reliable and secure information for users. For example, on May 27, 75 contracts were verified on snowtrace.io compared to 12 on snowscan.xyz. You can observe the differences in the number of verified contracts:
Same case for testnet-snowtrace For example, on May 27, 44 contracts were verified on testnet.snowtrace.io compared to 0 on testnet.snowscan.xyz You can observe the differences in the number of verified contracts:
