Most of python packages are moving away from setup.py to a pyproject.toml file.
I have made the basic changes to the repo-

  1. write the pyproject.toml file
  2. generated the poetry.lock file
  3. removed unneeded files.

Things to note:

  1. the packages in ./utils still use setup.py
  2. long_description is set via ./README.md
  3. not found how to implement include_package_data=True to poetry
