Use the Wikidata API to get information about people.

Install

pip install wikipeople

Search for concept ID's given a string

Basic info

Get someone's date of birth

Get information about someone's profession

Get someone's Country of birth

Get info in cases when you already have a Wikipedia link (useful if the name isn't enough to disambiguate)
