Pocket Hanzi Dictionary

A simple Chrome extension that makes learning Chinese characters easier.

Installation

1. Download the pocket-hanzi-dictionary.zip provided in the latest release.

2. Unzip the file.

3. Open Chrome and go to chrome://extensions/.

4. Enable Developer mode.

   

5. Click Load unpacked and select the unzipped folder.

Language Support

• English (only supports simplified/traditional Chinese characters)
• Vietnamese - Tiếng Việt (có hỗ trợ cả chữ Nôm, Tân tự thể (tiếng Nhật))

To change the language, click the extension's icon and select the language you want, or click the puzzle icon and click on Pocket Hanzi Dictionary (you can pin the extension if you want).

How to Use

1. Select a Chinese character on any webpage.
2. Right-click and select Hanzi Lookup with the extension's icon.
3. A popup will appear with the information of the character.

The information includes:

• Pinyin
• Definition
• Explanation
• Pronunciation (only available on some websites)
• Stroke order
• Occurrences in the Chinese text (old and modern)
• Japanese reading (if any)
• Vietnamese reading (if any)
• Korean reading (if any)
• Cantonese reading (if any)
• Statistics (English only)
