This would be very nice. As one adds more external sites, the header menu becomes quite busy. It would be nice to have a configurable single splash page for all the external sites.

I have a task scheduled to migrate this app to Vue, and then we should be able to merge it back, if you want?

Yeah, I considered extending this one, but as I was developing on/for both versions 24 and 25 and had no prior Nextcloud-related development experience, I found a separate app easier to develop & get into production. And, I figured, any potential later merging of functionality won't probably require too much effort.
