There are no `html` files in this directory, so I suppose, that the url should point to the `md` one, that is actually exists.

The documentation gets built and deployed online, where the links should in fact point to html files? The link you're changing is on this page and I don't think it would work with .md (unless that gets "built" out again byt the documentation build step?).
