contrib
is the standard name for useful scripts (or config files) that are not officially part of the program. It is usually installed as documentation, then users can choose to copy it into ~/bin/ or something if they want.Incidentally, you really need a Makefile, and to fix a couple of your conventions (Debian has a couple of patches for this - I'm not aware of any other vendors, not even Gentoo or Arch) to allow installs.
