  1. Update _VERSION_ in imgp
  2. Update date and version in imgp.1
  3. Review commit history since last release and update CHANGELOG
  4. Make sure help text in README.md is up-to-date
  5. Create a signed tag and push to GitHub
  6. Create a GitHub release and populate the release notes section with what went into CHANGELOG earlier
  7. Publish package update to PyPI (brief instructions)
  8. Update url and sha256 in homebrew-imgp
  9. Notify downstream package maintainers
