**TSC Summary:** Everything is going as planned. We will begin merging alpha PRs after this week's patch release.

**Action Item:**

* We are aiming to do the first v9 release (`v9.0.0-alpha.0`) on December 29th
* We will start to merge after this week's release
* @mdjermanovic will look into overriding the homepage's "upcoming version" status with the upcoming alpha
