I hoped we could make LICENSEdebian/copyright symlink, so that we don't duplicate the information.
But no, GitHub doesn't support such setup correctly. ☹

GitHub could support reading debian/copyright directly if somebody contributes a matcher at https://github.com/licensee/licensee/tree/main/lib/licensee/matchers (this is the Ruby library GitHub uses to scan repos).

Currently licensee does not support REUSE conventions either.

The fact that they state that they don't support package managers because there are too many does not mean automatically that they would reject to include extra checks if somebody submits a PR to scan for the most popular package manager conventions.
