If you want to e.g. use the Currency validator, you need to require symfony/intl.
At the moment, you won't ever see this exception message because it is swallowed.

Symfony\Component\Validator\Exception\LogicException - The Intl component is required to use the Currency constraint. Try running "composer require symfony/intl

Walkthrough

The changes involve modifying the validate method in the SymfonyValidator class to incorporate error handling. The method now uses a try block around the validation call to catch exceptions and return a ValidationResult that includes any errors and the exception message. This update alters the control flow during validation, providing a pathway for handling exceptions while maintaining the existing error processing logic.

Poem

In the land of code where bunnies play,
A validator hops in a brand new way.
With try and catch, it guards the gate,
Errors now handled, oh, isn't that great?
So let’s celebrate with a joyful cheer,
For smooth validations, we hold dear! 🐇✨

17-22: 🛠️ Refactor suggestion

Consider refining the exception handling

The addition of the try-catch block addresses the PR objective of catching exceptions from the Currency validator. However, there are a few points to consider:

  1. The catch block is currently catching all exceptions (\Exception). It might be more precise to catch specific exceptions related to the Currency validator or the Intl component.

  2. The error handling after the try-catch block might be redundant if an exception is caught. Consider restructuring the method to avoid this potential redundancy.

  3. To improve readability and reduce nesting, you could consider early returns or extracting the error processing logic into a separate method.

Here's a suggested refactoring that addresses these points:

public function validate(object $dataObject): ValidationResult
{
    $validator = Validation::createValidatorBuilder()
        ->addLoader(new AttributeLoader())
        ->getValidator();

    try {
        $result = $validator->validate($dataObject);
        return $this->processValidationResult($result);
    } catch (\Symfony\Component\Validator\Exception\LogicException $e) {
        // Catch specific exception related to the Currency validator
        return ValidationResult::make([], $e->getMessage());
    }
}

private function processValidationResult($result): ValidationResult
{
    $errors = [];
    foreach ($result as $error) {
        $errors[] = new ValidationError(
            $error->getPropertyPath(),
            $error->getInvalidValue(),
            $error->getMessage()
        );
    }

    return ValidationResult::make($errors, 'Validation failed');
}

This refactoring:

  1. Catches a specific exception related to the Currency validator.
  2. Avoids redundant processing by returning early if an exception is caught.
  3. Extracts the error processing logic into a separate method, improving readability.

To ensure we're catching the correct exception, let's verify the exception type thrown by the Currency validator:
