Status: Working This is a newly purchased TV, I didn't do any update before rooting, manufacturing date was May 2021. |
Status: Working -> notes: Always asked for LG Connected Apps Enabled when it was enabled (saw similar issue in discord). Noted that localhost:3000 didn't load anything but 127.0.0.1:3000 loaded 'hello world'. Ran locally by forcing IP address and finally was able to get the allow connection prompt to appear. It may be beneficial to change the default of 'localhost' in index.html to 127.0.0.1 as the default for target if there are others that have the same problem but can't locally host. Tried it a second time after having that prompt appear once and the web hosted version worked. |

Apparently in 6.2.0 the webOS version is buried somewhere else. To find it go to Settings -> General -> Devices -> TV Management -> TV Information. Status: Not Working Log:
Apparently LG decided to patch their vulnerabilities 😝 |

Status: Not working Fails on the edit: downgrading to 05.30.10 makes the rooting work. |
If anyone here is willing to beta-test a "v2" of this exploit, send me an email (my address is stated in all my commits in this repository) or a message on Matrix - Have a happy day count rollover, or something. |
Software version 05.40.25 exploit doesn't work, the beta will do? |

PSA: RootMyTV v2 release is planned for around 2022/01/14 18:00 UTC (this Friday) This will be compatible with all current webOS versions between 3.4 and 6.2 (up to the latest released ones), and shall alleviate any issues reported here. |
Will be there an instruction how to update to the latest webos and rootmytv if anyone has installed an older webos with the first rootmytv release? |
it's through WebAppMgr (Log4j) ? |
RootMyTV v2 is out now. Report in #18 |

The purpose of this issue is to track which TV models, and firmware versions, the exploit is working against.
If you are having trouble getting the exploit to work, please contact us on discord and/or open a separate issue.
At a minimum, please specify your webOS version, software version, and TV model - feel free to add any other details you think are relevant.
You can find your "webOS Version" under Settings > General > About This TV > TV Information > webOS TV Version
You can find your "Software Version" under Settings > General > About This TV > Software Version
IMPORTANT: Please don't get webOS version and software version mixed up!
