The screen shows the following message:

start-devmode.sh: Downloading from https://rootmy.tv/files/stage3.sh...
err: {"returnValue":false,"errorCode":-1,"errorText":"Denied method call \"download\" for category \"/\""}

Thanks for your efforts.

You can refer to this link and check if your version is currently supported by rootmy.tv. I also got the "denied method call" error but after downgrading my webos version it worked.

@kjeller Thank you. I will check it out.
Downgrading seems like a complex procedure... Can you advice a tutorial to follow? Thanks again!

I followed this guide and I downloaded an older version of my firmware from the openlgtv/fw-downgrade discord channel. If you are lucky, an older version for your TV might also be available from official LG sources.

I had the same, with C8 LLA and I followed this guide, it is really simple, but not sure if that's safe - it's a russian web site. For me few things were broken with the latest firmware 5.40.x like miracast (screen mirroring from windows PC)

  1. download the desired firmware version to and usb stick and attached to your LG TV
  2. open https://webosapp.club/downgrade/ with the LG webbrowser
  3. reboot when asked for, that's it

here is the link

Thank you @denimjeans you made my day!

Someone at the russian webos forum provides a whole bunch of links to older firmware images for nearly every webOS TV: http://webos-forums.ru/post23624.html#p23624
