Things to do

Issues noticed at Vectorama22

Necessary fixes

  • Fix reactor-lid sensing
  • Figure out a robust but decent looking way to keep the lid outer ring solid when installed
  • Change the old "cardboard" side panels to plywood (but slightly thinner to make the fit less tight)
  • New megawatt display (and simulation coms support for it)
  • Clean up aircore wiring
  • Add numbers to switch wires (which corresponds to which dial)
  • fix missing dial indicator on one aircore
  • Protective cover (see-through, polycarbonate or similar not easily cracking polymer) for aircore wiring
  • Create proper transport-case for the control console (currently transporting it is not fun at all, it's heavy, awkward size/shape, and has exposed fragile parts)

Nice-to-have

  • Fix other cosmetic issues with lid parts
  • Transport case for the lid parts (the old plastic boxes are not handy and are breaking apart)
  • New ATX power-supply (with less noisy fan)
  • Protective cover (see-through, polycarbonate or similar not easily cracking polymer) upper LED wiring
  • Add high-score system (integrate kWh produced over time)
  • Rewrite simulation to use ZMQ for coms
  • Rewrite simulation bottelenecks in Rust for performance
  • Set up RPi to run the simulation
  • Rewrite arduino coms for msgpack (there are also probably some interesting bugs in the old homebrew protocol, I fixed some related to aircores for Odysseus LARP) the msgpack library for Arduino is not compatible with old boards.
  • DMX/OSC trigger outputs for various simulation events (alert, red alert, meltdown, alert recoveries, reset)
