Setup Guide (1.8)

Prerequisites

1. Download the latest FASTER Release from this link.
2. Install the following packages:
   • DirectX9 (yes, for real)
   • DirectX9 Alternative
   • VC Redist 2013
3. Place your FASTER.exe whereever you please.

First Launch

4. Launch FASTER, fill out the details on the Initial Setup page
   • Steam Username: Needs to own Arma base game
   • Steam Password: should be obvious
   • Mod Staging Directory: Mod storage, make sure you have plenty of space here!
   • Arma Install Directory: Arma Server Files storage, needs about 20GB
   • Custom API Key: Ignore unless you know that it is

5. You'll be greeted by the Updater Page.

For Profiling branch to work you must FIRST download the main branch, click Update and THEN switch to profiling and update again.

6. Select which CDLCs you want, enable Profilling Branch (its free FPS!) and then click Update. It will ask for your 2FA Code and then start the download.

Mod Download & Deployment

8. Go to the Mods page. Either import a mod preset or add mods one by one.

9. Click Update all. Once you see the "Mods updated!" message in the console output it's done.
10. In the Deployment page make sure Install Directory is pointed at your server directory.
11. Click "Deploy All" so mods are available for your arma server install.

Creating Server Profile

12. You can create an unlimited amount of Server Profiles, each of them can run an arma server. If you are running multiple make sure they use different ports. (e.g. Profile 1 2302, Profile 2 2312, etc.)

13. Select your mods in the CLIENT Column, the HEADLESS column should mirror the CLIENT column, right click on the column header to copy it.

DO NOT TICK MODS IN THE SERVER COLUMN

The CLIENT column relates to the -mod= launch parameter while the SERVER column relates to the -servermod= launch paramter. Once you're more familiar with server setups you can wander into the world of server mods.

FASTER 1.8 gives you the option of creating multiple arma server directories, enabling you to have different key folders to host multiple servers while having verification enabled AND having different modsets. Do NOT concern yourself with that if you're just starting with arma servers. If you wish to use different server directories select a second directory in the Updater page, download it, and choose that in in your profile in the Server File setting. Don't forget to deploy your mods to that second directory aswell.

(Persistent) Mission Setup

If you get a "Mod not found" error make sure you deployed all your mods in the Deployment page.
