Are you sure its better in english? maybe it would help people who doesnt read english well? |
The system messages have a few standardized wording patterns, so I don't think it would be too much of a problem even if they were not translated. However, this is a matter of taste, and if the development team wishes to localize it, I respect that. |
"not cool" meaning that in english it feel more scifi or its bad to show it in Japanese? |
Not all of them, but if the content is standardized and easily understood, the English font is more sci-fi cool. Another factor is that CCO's Japanese font is thicker looking and stands out more than English.Skip notices stand out because of the amount of text in a four-line sentence, which also causes a strong uncool impression.(A smaller or thinner looking font would still be better, but would have a negative impact on the rest of the design.) Words like "global time skip," "AFK task," "street cred," etc., when translated, just become katakana English for pronunciation, which ultimately doesn't help beginners understand much. For these reasons, I think it is better to leave the system messages in English. This is not the consensus of everyone, but I feel that it is the majority. |
I came up with a compromise. Translate the text and then reduce the number of characters and simplify it so that it does not look too strong. The tutorial should be enough to understand the meaning. グローバルタイムスキップ起動…(nn人/mm min by username)[リスペクトする] In English, this corresponds to about this amount of information. "Global time skip activated...(nn players/mm min by username) [send street cred]" This was well received by the Japanese chat members. How about this idea? |
of course, that sounds good as long as you guys like it :D do you mind edit it in a new PR? so we can merge the preferred translation to the game :D |
Of course. |
Translated system messages back to English because the appearance of the Japanese font spoiled the cyberpunk atmosphere.
