As proposed by @ajunge -- I couldn't tag Tristan because I don't have her github handle, but do get her review to make sure this would cover the case you had in mind for automating your own registry and perhaps the updating/expanding of the namespaces project as well!
I'd probably want to populate the repo with .jsons for all the current specs before merging this-- shouldn't be too much work, but also not sure how much of i can do in the next week or two!
