This page provides brief instructions on using the JwlMediaWin software on your Windows 10 PC at the Kingdom Hall. The tool performs a single, simple function - ensuring that the JW Library media window is not "lost" when using other applications to render media on the same monitor!

The software is applicable to the Windows version of JW Library available in January 2019, and there is no guarantee that it will be compatible with future editions (although I will attempt to keep the application up-to-date as long as it is still useful). I don't believe the use of JwlMediaWin contravenes the JW Library terms and conditions of use, but please decide for yourself on this matter.

Installation

Download and run the JwlMediaWinSetup.exe file. The application is added to your "startup" folder which means it will run automatically whenever you log on to the PC. You should see its icon in the System Tray (normally bottom right of your primary screen).

Please also see this note about Malware.

Settings

Enable Fix - JW Library - enables the fix for JW Library (default setting).

Enable Fix - JW Library Sign Language - enables the fix for JW Library Sign Language.

Keep on Top - The media window is always on top, but allows other applications to override it if they too can be "on top" (default setting). Note that if you use VLC for media playback you should either turn this setting off or change VLC settings so that it is "Always on top".

Stop JWL Media Fix - unloads the application. It will be reloaded when you next log on.

Operation

JwlMediaWin monitors the state of the JW Library media window and when it is launched (i.e. when the JW Library "Play video on second display" option is chosen), it modifies the window to make it more permanent. By default, the media window is quite fragile - if you move another window over it or launch an application on the same monitor it minimises. In normal operation of the audio-visual equipment at the Kingdom Hall this is not desirable and can lead to some disruption. Applications such as OnlyM and OnlyV offer a "JW Library Compatibility" mode that attempts to overcome this issue but the technique is not always successful.

If you use "JW Library Compatibility" mode with OnlyM, OnlyT and OnlyV you can turn those modes off after installing JwlMediaWin.
