Project hypotheses

We believe that…

  • finding clearer ways to explain what we do and what we sell
  • showcasing projects we've worked on, including visual examples of our past work

will result in potential partners understanding how 18F might be able to help them.

We will know we are right when user research and emails to intake show that people understand what we do.

We believe that…

  • finding clearer ways to explain what we do
  • testimonials from partners in the context of case studies

will result in people within GSA and in other agencies being able to explain what we do.

We will know we are right when…

  • we get more referrals and questions from FAS and PBS employees
  • user research with GSA employees shows they understand 18F

We believe that…

  • being more transparent about our hiring processes, diversity, and inclusion efforts
  • bringing the join18F content into the site itself

will result in more trust both within and outside of government and more diverse, high quality candidates applying to work at 18F.

We will know we are right when…

  • more applicants who progress to interviews come through the website
  • we see more digital service teams growing elsewhere
  • we get more requests to help start digital service teams elsewhere in government

We believe that…

  • improving the findability of high-quality 18F guides

will result in better conversations with potential partners and higher-quality guides that support 18F employees.

We will know we are right when…

  • guides are mentioned in intake conversations with agencies
  • teams ask us to promote their guides
  • non-18F people bring up 18F guides on listserves or gov forums

We believe that keeping the design current with the Web Design System
will result in a more maintainable site that supports 18F employees.
We will know we are right when we get feedback that it’s easier for new employees to get the site running locally
