Not only does a notification happen for every single image, but also the notification does not disappear when the chat is visible again.

Is there any way to get it to be slightly less annoying?

Probably, but because YRS is going on now, everyone is kinda busy... your welcome to make a PR and we can take a look but, other than that, we're too busy to work on it.
