Templating not working fully.

Hello guys! Couldn't find the answer anywhere.

In the ControllerX documentation says " It leverages the HA templating system with the same syntax."

Why this doesn't work

    toggle$2: >
      {% if states('input_select.test') == 'temp' %}
        toggle
      {% else %}
        toggle
      {% endif %}

and this work?

toggle$2: "{{ 'toggle' if states('input_select.test') == 'temp' else 'toggle' }}"

don't pay attention at the code itself, I wrote anything just for testing purpose.

The thing is that the first templating syntax doesn't work. It was supposed to?
