Hi, I have installed aerozoom and think it's great - it works exactly as it should with the mouse scroll wheel

Unfortunately I cannot get it working with the built in trackpad on my Huawei laptop. I don't see any mention of trackpads, so not sure it it should work or not?

I use the laptop on a desk with a mouse and external monitor and generally I don't need the zoom; it's when I use the laptop on my knee without the monitor or mouse that I really need the zoom feature - so this would be fantastic if it could work.

I also don't know how I would open the control panel when I don't have the mouse connected, as there are no physical mouse buttons on the laptop.

Thanks,
Ben

Hi Ben,

Thanks for reaching out! I’m glad AeroZoom is useful to you.

Let's tackle the easier of the two problems first. :) Regarding opening the AeroZoom Panel (control panel), there are several ways to do this:

  1. Click both the left and right mouse buttons at the same time (which you probably already know).
  2. Press the keyboard shortcut (hotkey) - Win+Shift+Esc - to show or hide the AeroZoom Panel.
  3. In the system tray area, look for the AeroZoom icon (below) and double-click it.

Concerning the trackpad, AeroZoom works with the trackpad of my current laptop, a Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 2 running the latest version of Windows 10. It features a trackpad powered by ELAN Microelectronics.

It has also worked with the trackpads of previous laptops I owned. Therefore, I believe this may be a Huawei-specific issue.

Note: I am using Ctrl as a modifier key while writing this.

Unfortunately, I do not have access to a Huawei laptop. My first recommendation would be to try booting Windows in Safe Mode, which ensures Windows runs minimally without additional applications and services.

I just tried this, and my trackpad still functions correctly with AeroZoom under Safe Mode.

You can boot into Safe Mode by following these instructions:

  1. Press Win+R to bring up the Run prompt, and enter msconfig.

  2. Check Safe boot (minimal) and click OK. When prompted to reboot, proceed with it.

(To undo this while in Safe Mode, simply follow the same instructions but uncheck Safe boot in step two.)

If you find that your trackpad works in Safe Mode, then one or more running applications or services may be interfering with AeroZoom.

You can then try to identify and disable the startup applications and services causing this issue. Be careful not to disable essential services that could prevent Windows from working or booting normally.

Also, perform a full backup of your entire system, including all hard drives and partitions, prior to making any changes. Please understand that this is a risky step.

To disable startup applications, you can use Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc):

To disable services, you can use msconfig:

If this doesn’t work, or if you cannot identify the applications or services causing the issue, you might also try other possible solutions, such as different drivers (from Windows Update or the manufacturers) or changing touchpad parameters.

I hope this helps! I wish you the best of luck.
