Stuttering with Low Latency RTSPT? #60

Hello,

I wanted to report something that might be a bug, but it may also just be improper video settings on my end.

I run a mediamtx server on OVH with a symmetrical 500/500 connection. I stream to it with OBS, and often use custom settings and NVENC.

I have tried all sorts of settings, bitrates, even using x264, etc. but it seems that low latency streams typically have weird stuttering issues. Typically the audio and video will replay or stutter occasionally, causing disruptive and uncomfortable audio. It also will periodically lose a keyframe or two.

Given that most people use VRCDN for low latency streams and they seem to work fine, I figure it is probably a config issue on my end. But I also am curious if there's insight into what settings would work best and what not. I typically do a custom ffmpeg output in the recording tab, because the default stream settings often aren't enough for what I'm doing and have higher latency.

I do know there is a chance that it may be the container format or audio format (I use H264 NVENC, AAC fast, and mp4 container format). However, trying any other container or codecs causes OBS to return "function not implemented", so I believe it's an issue with mediamtx.

Just trying to see if there's good guidance on this stuff, since I've found VideoTXL to be the most robust player in general and I wasn't sure where to start with this.

I also tried without low latency preferred, and it seems to be smoother overall. But I noticed there is no way to configure VideoTXL to have Low Latency turned off by default. Given it's a client option, it makes it hard to sync video across users.
