Add global network configuration on CentOS 7

I'm currently migrating from another network module which allows setting global network options like gateway or nisdomain which are written into /etc/sysconfig/network on CentOS 7. I could implement this feature for CentOS but have no experience with Debian.

Is this a feature which this module should include and how should I go about implementing a feature which might be specific to the Redhat family of distributions.
