Not sure what the source is, don't have time to dig into this now but documenting so I can get around to it.

So it works in jupyterlab v4.2.6 but not v4.3.0. Weird becaue I would expect this to be an ipywidgets thing and not jupyterlab. Nothing from the changelog that stands out to me but I'm not experienced enough in JS to figure out where this is coming from: https://github.com/jupyterlab/jupyterlab/releases/tag/v4.3.0
