How to add symbol (text labels)?

I'm trying to add a geoJSON and rendering a symbol. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm able to render a 'fill' or 'line' just fine. Is there a property I'm missing?

Goal: To add text labels (points) on a map.
