Best practice for subtitles on iOS

Hi there,

I have run into the common issue where iPhones don't show the custom text tracks in fullscreen mode therefore I have taken the advice on enabling native text tracks for iPhones. This rectifies the original issue of captions not displaying in full screen however captions don't seem to persist when reloading the page even when the native "Auto" setting is selected for closed captions.

What is the best practice when it comes to iOS in regards to getting fullscreen subtitles working alongside retaining this setting on navigating to a page with another video?
