Which Umbraco version are you using? (Please write the exact version, example: 10.1.0)

14.2.0

Bug summary

The values displayed for the node "Created" date and in the History pane dates are incorrect (appear to be incorrectly applying UTC offset).

For example, given New Zealand time (NZST) which is currently UTC +12 - its 10:45am and the history shows published at 10:45PM:

Specifics

No response

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create node - Created date shows "correct" time:

  2. Save and publish

  3. Observe Created date and History pane now showing incorrect date (12 hrs in the future of current timezone):

Expected result / actual result

Expected: dates reflect current timezone
Actual: dates appear to show timezone offset incorrectly

Hi there @shearer3000!

Firstly, a big thank you for raising this issue. Every piece of feedback we receive helps us to make Umbraco better.

We really appreciate your patience while we wait for our team to have a look at this but we wanted to let you know that we see this and share with you the plan for what comes next.

  • We'll assess whether this issue relates to something that has already been fixed in a later version of the release that it has been raised for.
  • If it's a bug, is it related to a release that we are actively supporting or is it related to a release that's in the end-of-life or security-only phase?
  • We'll replicate the issue to ensure that the problem is as described.
  • We'll decide whether the behavior is an issue or if the behavior is intended.

We wish we could work with everyone directly and assess your issue immediately but we're in the fortunate position of having lots of contributions to work with and only a few humans who are able to do it. We are making progress though and in the meantime, we will keep you in the loop and let you know when we have any questions.

Thanks, from your friendly Umbraco GitHub bot 🤖 🙂

Hi @shearer3000 , thanks for reporting. Unfortunately, I couldn't reproduce this issue like this

Hi @NguyenThuyLan thanks for investigating and providing that video. What timezone are you (i.e. your offset to UTC)? I just tried again on a fresh install of 14.2.0 and most definitely see this issue consistently. Im in New Zealand (so a 12h UTC offset) - its currently 9:50AM and publishing a page shows a PM time. Please also see my system clock in the screenshot to contrast with the "future" date Umbraco is displaying:

EDIT: a few mins after the above screenshot, i ran the date cmd in powershell on my pc:

@shearer3000 , you're right, last time, I tried on Cloud and it ran correctly, but when creating locally, there was a timezone error here.
