How to reference assets in Markdown blocks

I've set up the markdown_to_html filter successfully as per the docs.

Now I'd want to reference an image in a similar way to referencing assets in templates as explained at Mapping and Referencing Assets.

Well, probably it doesn't make sense to use mapped assets in this case since Markdown is used to write static content. Anyway, thank you and keep up the great work.
