mn2e.bst for article submission

Is it possible to use the mn2e.bst file in this repository for an article to be submitted to MNRAS?

It would be very nice to have the bibliography style file in CTAN that is linked form the publisher web page replaced by the new version.

We are working with MNRAS via @keithtsmith to get the BST file officially updated although there are a few outstanding issues over DOI and arXiv references (also see #13 and #12) and we never quite get around to finalising things. The current version in git really needs some separate modifications from the MN class file so it might not be the best one to use standalone. You probably want 06b3cb7 as a good safe "don't worry about arXiv" version (although you will find that arXiv IDs get dropped in the output). That version is still better than the old one that was released last century.

That's great. I will use 06b3cb7. That version also works well with references that have more than 8 authors that were causing problems with the bst file that is available from CTAN.
