This works right now with HTTPS-based origins (without the .git suffix) with the following manifest configuration:

open ${ORIGIN}/compare/${REF_FROM}..${REF_TO}

One option would be to provide a shell script that accepts the three arguments, "fixes" the origin such that it can be put into a browser.
