An Engineer from Paris, France. I started programming at 11 years old during the web 1.0 era.
On the private side, I currently work on a trading platform.
On the public side, I have a few rust client libraries that I created for that platform, as well as a few npm packages that are apparently useful (500+ stars). I also contribute pull requests whenever I can, and have done some contribution to apache projects over the years (most recently apache/arrow-datafusion).
I always found it strange that most of the industry relies on open source code, which in turns relies on the free time and capacity of very motivated engineers who are solving interesting problems, yet so many projects get archived or slow down without real support.
10 years ago, I set out to the USA, to create a service which is not unlike what Sponsors (or other bounty services) is now. Mainly to support a new kind of lifestyle, one where companies who profit off the free work of others, can actually give back and interact in a meaningful way, helping open source projects grow instead of slowly dying out for no reason because the creator burnt out or couldn't make a living out of his hobby.
I sincerely hope that one day, I can live off open source code.
