Many of the examples are using splunk lib is this deprecated or still supported?

I noticed splunklib in the examples is still using pycrypto requiring workarounds like using pycryptodome or something to get a buildable artifact.

Is this still supported (I got to this repo from the official docs) or should these examples be refactored to use https://pypi.org/project/splunk-sdk/?

It looks like Splunk has migrated to the splunk-sdk app but have still used splunklib as the principal import alias. For those who come after you can see in the ./makefile they are installing splunk-sdk into /lib then mounting it using docker-compose into each of the applications

Then by adding the ./vendor directory to the path within the application they are able to import the module (and any other modules they want like dotenv)`
