Sculpting wire alternatives

The sculpting wire idea was essentially a low-cost, DIY version of a gooseneck fixture. While sculpting wire may not be a very scalable option from a manufacturing perspective, it can probably be replaced by a suitable (somewhat more expensive) gooseneck fixture. A flex arm is another option. For either, I'd need to find a way to attach a mounting bracket. Thinner cables and standard connectors are better. A compression fitting might be another option for attaching the gooseneck to the PCB.

Perhaps I could use something like https://www.amazon.com/Gator-Frameworks-Gooseneck-Microphones-GFW-MIC-GN19/dp/B01CUS3TUW/ and find an adapter that attaches to the board. Seems like there are a lot of options by way of microphones and soldering stations.

Other alternatives that still use a wire (but also can be compatible with the gooseneck option above)

• Solderable nut https://www.adafruit.com/product/4207
• Compression fitting (e.g. swagelok or yor-lok style, not sure how small this comes though - 2 mm might be pushing it)
• Use a terminal breakout that's not connected to anything electrically, twist the wires near the start of the terminal (not very practical for the sensor)
  • single-pin mini binding posts ($0.45 ea. @ digikey). As long as the M2.5 screw can fit through the mounting hole, can be used standalone
  • note that mounting holes tend to not be solderable
