The sculpting wire idea was essentially a low-cost, DIY version of a gooseneck fixture. While sculpting wire may not be a very scalable option from a manufacturing perspective, it can probably be replaced by a suitable (somewhat more expensive) gooseneck fixture. A flex arm is another option. For either, I'd need to find a way to attach a mounting bracket. Thinner cables and standard connectors are better. A compression fitting might be another option for attaching the gooseneck to the PCB.
Perhaps I could use something like https://www.amazon.com/Gator-Frameworks-Gooseneck-Microphones-GFW-MIC-GN19/dp/B01CUS3TUW/ and find an adapter that attaches to the board. Seems like there are a lot of options by way of microphones and soldering stations.
