Battery level in the "Vacuum Status" text

As per the title, it would be awesome to have the battery level displayed along with the "Vacuum Status" text.

@zecoj so: the implementation of this function will show the battery state when the vacuum is cleaning, moving, idle or error when docked the battery state (that is anyhow available in the card) will be not display (it makes no sense and also it is in order to avoid updates of the image while docked).
Although there will be a battery_state attribute coming our from the camera.
Hope this will meet your requirements, I mean of course it possible to use also the battery state from the vacuum but this should in any cases give an idea of what is the state of the battery in case a snapshot during error condition is taken.

That's awesome! I think there's a good case to have it display the battery when charging: charging/docked in between longer clean for larger houses. I think if you can show the battery when docked if it is less than 100%, that would probably be a good compromise.

I still think it's good to show the battery while docked. Like I mentioned, if the vacuum is recharging whilst cleaning, it'll be good to know the battery level to know when it'll start cleaning again.

I got you point and as workaround for the time be, there is the possibility to use the tile in the card to see the battery level.

But as mentioned above (as per the camera need to catch when the vacuum is connected to MQTT and change the label text to docked) it will be possible to to have the Docked/Charging -> Docked (Battery: 100%) transition. I'm confident on your kind understanding, technically the camera suspend the image creation when the vacuum is docked (so the status text become a little more complex).. I would need to move the text refresh in a new thread to do not overload home assistant.. As well if I understand you want to charge the battery and then send the robot to another room for example? this can be done with the automations and the battery level in the camera attributes is updated.
As soon I'm done with it, I will get in contact with you here in GitHub.

it' my pleasure to ensure this project feet our common needs and each contributions, including yours is motiving me to keep on it constantly (side note is.. well I do not do this for profit or become famous, no need for it). @FHeilmann, I didn't forget about your proposal of having the aspect ratio configurable in the camera.. there is also another function to export the SVG that was postponed.. anyway.. guys thanks for the inspirations here.

@zecoj I will probably release a beta version of v1.5.9 later today and this will include the new text label (battery status) for you to test. I still need to do some testing, cleaning of the code and so on but so far from what I can tested it seems all okay ;)

@zecoj v1.5.8-beta.1 should be available in HACS soon, it was just release. You can download it by enabling the beta versions in HACS. I hope you will enjoy this preview of the new text management. Just a remainder this is a beta version (tested) no braking changes actually implemented.

Hey mate, sorry I've been away. Thanks for the update, appreciate the effort put into this. If I may have some minor suggestions for aesthetics:

Currently:

Suggestion:
vacuum_name: status (location) · ⌁98%

This will make use of the middle dot character (U+00B7) and electric arrow character (U+2301).

@zecoj in the next beta for the 1.5.9 there will be also the auto zoom function that will zoom automatically on the segments that are under cleaning. The camera text will be automatically resized in base to the new image size... it will be a beta also because this new function (and I still need to complete another one that is open since long) will be an option on the final version.. as soon the beta is out would you please give me a comment on it too?

Serif status looks out of place in the GUI.

@zecoj I'm using the fonts on the folder as per I was not able to figure out how to get the fonts directly from Home Assistant. Using pillow to draw the text on the image you need to specify the path to the font to use. If you know how to do that and you can provide me a link to study how to do this.. would gladly give also the option to select the font in the options.. we did use Lato before as it is a free to use font and also the one we use now is GNU. If there is the possibility to grab the fonts used in HA please let me know.

I think Lato is perfectly fine. I don't think you'll be able to grab the fonts used in HA as that depends on the theme and OS/browser, etc.

@zecoj Lato didn't support the characters we use now this is why I had to switch to this freeSerif.
In any case form the study I did at the time it depends mainly from the OS to found the fonts there, so will check later if it is possible to use other fonts.. by the way I guess when the image is in normal view (not zoomed) it is okay.. Probably it will be possible to scale the font in the base of the dimensions of the image better than how it is done now.
I think I catch your point, correct me if I'm wrong.

@zecoj if you download the main the Font changed I did also change the font size calculation and now it looks okay.
If something is not okay just let me know I will be happy to found a solution, I want to get it perfect as you do ;)

@zecoj there was just a minor change the ("room") will be using noto characters to decode Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji but the rest works as before. Will soon release the v1.5.9.

I just downloaded the latest RC, I think it looks a bit big (compare to the "Rooms" down below). Do you see the same?

@zecoj yep I know the font size probably need to be scaled down.. as it is a different font of course the size is interpolated to the font type (the text also is resized based on length of the text and size of the image).

It happens also that sometime when the image is smaller (zoomed) the room name is a kind of bold type while the other text is really thin.

I'm aware of this.. but please understand this integration is for everyone and we need to consider all users requirements. If for example the rooms are named in Cyrillic or Japanese we need to use fonts that support those languages as well (would be probably necessary to translate the text completely).

I think it is necessary a compromise between how it looks and works for the time be (please read #87).

Hope you agree, so for the moment, the rooms are display as now as there is no language option for the text.. and.. honestly we did a lot of progress already spent quite a time on it.

It does not mean we can not make it to looks better if nor perfect (I really appreciate your inputs), surely there will be other modifications in the future as per mentioned and definitely understood from your inputs as well..

I'm thinking to dedicate to the status text a sub configuration menu were will be possible:

• to choose language, size, position and as it now colour of the text.
• this imply adding support translations also for status_text.
• if the language will be supported (there is a translation json for it) the font will be selected and managed automatically.

I already postponed the final release of this update, although, I'm not sure if we will be done by it, there are other functions that I need to confirm before the final release, anyhow let's say the message is clear and I got the point you raised quite well.

Yeah I understand what you're trying to do. I think it's acceptable the way it is now. When it is feasible I'd love to see the ability to adjust the fonts and sizes!

This is just for give you un update... the menu for the status text have been redesign as..

Still have a lot to do but I put a couple of font more one of this is Lato that I did use since the begin.

It is possible to go <50 for the text size over that the text will automatically resize to keep the 70% of the image width.
