• Port image_transport_plugins to ROS2:
  • compressed_depth_transport: Update compress_depth_image_transport to ROS2 ros-perception/image_transport_plugins#27
  • compressed_image_transport: Update compress_depth_image_transport to ROS2 ros-perception/image_transport_plugins#27
  • theora_image_transport: Update theora_image_transport to ROS2  ros-perception/image_transport_plugins#28

Additional Functionality:

• Port message_filters (Python): enable message_filters support of python interfaces and tests message_filters#7
• Support dynamic reconfigure in image transport plugins (moved to: Support dynamic parameters in image transport plugins ros-perception/image_common#110)
• Lazy subscribers in ROS2 (requires rmw changes) (moved-to: Enable "lazy" publishers and subscribers ros-perception/image_common#111)

I switched this to "in progress" since it doesn't seem to have associated pr's and is still an ongoing task (AFAIK).

I think since we've implemented all of the "core" features, we can close this and transfer any of the remaining enhancements as issues on the image_common repository.
