Is it possible to automatically exclude tags file from searches?

Hi, I hope this project is not dead (if so is there a fork or some alternative to this?)
As per the title I'd like to automatically exclude my tags file from my searches as it (obviously) causes many search hits polluting the output window with uninteresting results.
