VLC Mediaplayer plugin!?

I would like to ask a very bold question here, even at the risk of you laughing at me...
Do you think it would be possible to talk to the developers of the VLC media player and see if they could create a plugin for hfs?

i'm sorry but i don't know them, but i don't see why you should want a plugin specific for hfs, when hfs behaves as a normal website. Search for a plugin for chrome/firefox instead.

The problem is, i instaled all common plugins from your repo, but still there are a lot of mediafiles, they dont offer a play Button in the browser frontend, sorry for my bad english...

One of the buttons seems to be from my plugin and i'm guessing you also have the IlyaBOT's plugin and something else.
I don't add the button for those since browsers can't play video from those containers and "unsupported-videos" plugin doesn't affect my plugin.
I might think about adding support but idk how hard it would be.

As you can see, there are 5 Files not offering a playbutton

the play buttons you are talking about are the ones added by some plugins.
i have no power over them, and neither unsupported-videos plugin.
the standard play button offered by HFS is the "show" that you will see if you click on the AVI file.
by default MPG extension was not included, but if you update the unsupported-videos plugin (now 0.13) you will find it fixed.

Hi and sorry for my late answer, i wasnt at home the whole day...
@SanokKule, i replaced your player with the version you gave me, i cant see any difference...
@rejetto i tested in firefox, brave browser, opera and google chrome serval vlc plugins and other mediaplayers, but none of them worked ...
A Plugin named Videoplayer gave me following errormessage "no supported video source was found"

An other Plugin named Mediaplayer gave me following errormessage "the media could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported "

A VLC Plugin gave me following errormessage "VLC kann die Medienadresse 'https://1xx.xxxxxxxx/Filmklassiker%20und%20Oldies/Bud%20Spencer%20-%20Auch%20die%20Engel%20essen%20Bohnen%201973.mpg nicht öffnen" (VLC cant open this Adress in short)

An other VLC Plugin gave me following errormessage "an error has occurred! please make shure the native client-patch is installed on your machine...

Sorry, i think i am somehow stupid, because it sems like i am the only one with this problem here!?
Shure, i could download the file i wanna watch, but this is a bit annoying if you just wanna preview something....

Regarding unsupported-videos, are you sure you installed ffmpeg and configured path to it in the plugin's config?

I forgot something, if i click on the avi file and select show, i get error unsupported format...
if i select play it starts downloading the file...

Lets say "i tryed"... i downloaded the ffmpeg-master-latest-win64-gpl, put it in my plugins directory and pointed to the ffmepg.exe there, nothing changed...
same thing i tryed with ffmpeg-master-latest-win64-gpl-shered and pointed to the same file, nothing changed...

Yes.
I tested with the ffmpeg build that rejetto linked and it also worked fine for me, so i'm not sure what's wrong here.

Sorry, i found my mistake!!! I pointed to the ffmpeg.dll, not to the exe file... Deamn i`m so stupid, my fault... sorry sorry sorry!!!

But why the vlc plugin doesnt work as rejetto suggested? I got the newest Version installed on booth, server and client, but i allways get this strange errors, even if i copy the link and try to open it direct in vlc mediaplayer!?

If you have restricted access to file with an account, it won't play anywhere else outside of hfs web page

I must confess, i am a totally noob, but i am so happy, i got my server running now (somehow) and most things now run very smooth ;-)

if i would restrikt such an account, lets say to read only access, would this work?

The problem is that there's no good way to provide login+password with a link, you would have to add login and password in front yourself like this: http://login:[email protected]/media.webm

let me be clear on the vlc plugins for the browser: I just suggested to try them, but I don't use them, and I don't even know if they work, and what it takes.
I said that because you asked about it, and it's the topic of this discussion. :)

Hello rejetto, the solution from SanokKule did work finally, and it was my own stupid mistake, because i pointed accidently to the ffmpeg.dll and not to the exe file, like i should. Now if i click a link to a media file and select show, i can play any video in any webbrowser...
But as i sayd, i wanna thank you allso so much for your phantastic Program, which makes it easy, even for noobs like me to run a save and secure server!!! I will recommended your program to everybody and everywere as THE BEST AND USERFRIENDLYEST SERVER SOFTWARE, EVEN FOR NOOBS (like me)!!! And sorry for the trouble i caused here, because of my own mistake. My conclousion to any reader of this treat is if you make any settings, check them carefully, because every mistake you make can cause you a lot of headache...
