With v1.14.1, I see this error:

julia> JSON3.read(sprint(JSON3.pretty, JSON3.read("{\"\\\"hey\\\"\": 7}")))
ERROR: ArgumentError: invalid JSON at byte position 9 while parsing type JSON3.Object: ExpectedSemiColon
{
    ""hey"": 7
}

NB: I wonder if Supposition might help avoid errors like this in JSONBase.jl?
