Data Explorer: column sorting is incorrect

Note: This was identified on the data explorer pinning branch (#9264), but this is going to be merged shortly so opening a separate issue to track this fix.

Describe the issue:

Sorting of columns no longer works in Data Explorer.

Left Window: Current Behavior
Right Window: Behavior after Pinning feature added

Steps to reproduce the issue:

1. Open data in Data Explorer
2. Select any column to sort
3. Verify sorting occurs as expected - FAIL

Expected or desired behavior:

The columns (pin or unpinned) should sort per the direction the user has selected.

Were there any error messages in the UI, Output panel, or Developer Tools console?
